Nantes won the first leg 1-0. A deserved victory in which the visitors never really found their footing. Nantes had little to gain. They haven't managed an away win in ten matches. This season's away record doesn't exactly make me confident that the streak will end. Nantes has only won three games on the road. Only St. Etienne and Montpellier have bettered that record. In addition, Nantes has conceded the second-most passes away from home. At the same time, the team has created the fewest chances throughout the season. Rennes recorded an impressive 5-1 victory last week but the men in red and black can build on their attacking performance. Nantes got off too lightly in their previous matches. They had to work hard and could easily have conceded a few more goals. It wasn't a matter of the quality of their chances, but rather the efficiency and coolness of Nice and Lille, among others. |
